Do you ever feel like you don't fit in with the yoga crowd?

Yeah, me neither - and I'm a yoga teacher! As a 40+ mom with a full-time job, a family, and Multiple Sclerosis, finding the time and energy for daily movement is a challenge!

That's why I created Chair Yoga for the Rest of Us. My goal is to create a space where people who often feel uncomfortable trying yoga or struggle to make it work for us physically feel welcome and supported.

Maybe you're frustrated or overwhelmed by the constant up-and-down movement from floor to standing and back again. That kind of class might even feel unsafe if, like me, you ever felt dizzy or unsteady while trying to keep up.

In Chair Yoga for the Rest of Us, accessibility is our top priority. That means that the verbal and visual cues I give are all to be taken as suggestions. You are the expert on your body and what it needs or wants when practicing.

The overarching theme is Choose Your Own Adventure.

The first few minutes will give us a chance to connect to our breath and intention for this time before transitioning to an adaptable yoga practice designed to be done at your own pace. This class can be done 100% seated but options will be given to stand or use the chair as a prop, only if desired.

We'll end each class with some quiet time.

Suggested optional props you might find helpful:

  • yoga strap, belt, or scarf
  • yoga blocks or chair, stool, or books to lean on
